Famed for their undulating grounds, carpeted in the heady mix of groomed fairways and wild roughs, where golfers are exposed to the unpredictable elements of coastal weather; the links-style courses at the centre of The Open are truly a challenge forged by nature.
As you wander between the fairways, off the back of the greens, and venture out of bounds you can experience the natural wonders that have shaped Royal Troon. 40 miles south of the summit of Ben Lomond lies a small cairn on the west side of Prestwick Golf Club, that signifies the spot where the first ever Open tee shot was struck. A place where the pioneers of modern golf began to dream of a tournament “open” to the world, where people would venture from far-flung continents to compete for the ultimate prize in golf.
For more than 160 years, the world’s best players have braved the unrelenting challenge of links golf at The Open, using their skill, guile, and perseverance to master some of the greatest, most naturally stunning courses in the world. As the Official Gin of The Open, we raise a glass to those pioneers, brave competitors, champion golfers, and the undeniable adventurous spirit that binds them together.
As homage to Royal Liverpool, the course in which the 151st Open was played, the first Ben Lomond Open Special Edition includes wild botanicals such as Sea Buckthorn, Yarrow and Rosehip creating a gin that is as enthralling as the course itself.
